Manchester United news: Ajax striker Brian Brobbey has revealed he turned down a transfer approach from the Red Devils.
Brobbey was linked with a move to Man Utd this summer, but the Dutch striker opted to join Ajax on a permanent transfer.
Brobbey has earlier played under current Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag at Ajax. He is an Ajax academy graduate who made his senior team debut for the Dutch side in the 2020/21 season. Ten Hag was the Ajax manager at the time.
Brobbey then joined RB Leipzig on a free transfer last summer. However, he spent the second half of last season at Ajax, on loan from the German side, and reunited with Ten Hag.
Manchester United news: Brian Brobbey turned down Red Devils’ approach

Man Utd appointed Ten Hag as their new manager at the end of last season. The Red Devils have since signed Tyrell Malacia, who Ten Hag knows from his time in the Eredivisie. Man Utd have also reunited Ten Hag with Lisandro Martinez, signing the Argentine defender from Ajax.
Brobbey has now revealed that Ten Hag sounded out to him a potential move to Man Utd, but he turned down the approach.
“I absolutely wanted to come back to Ajax,” Brobbey told Voetbal International, as quoted by Goal. “Erik also wanted to work with me again, he texted me once to see if I was open to it. But I thanked him nicely and told him I wanted to go back to Ajax. My friends are here, Ajax’s playing style… it just wasn’t finished yet.”
Meanwhile, Man Utd have also signed Christian Eriksen on a free transfer. The Danish international has joined on a three-year contract after impressing during his short stint at Brentford last season.
The Red Devils have also acquired the services of Brazilian midfielder Casemiro from Real Madrid.
Man Utd is still in the transfer market looking for new signings. The Old Trafford outfit are interested in Ajax winger Antony. They have had bids for Antony rejected by Ajax, with the Dutch club standing firm on their valuation of the player.
Man Utd, though, have not given up on their pursuit of the Brazilian international. They are expected to table a new bid for Antony before the transfer window closes.
PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo also remains an option for Man Utd.
